Kelly Slater (USA), 38, past nine-time ASP World Champion, has taken out the 2010 Hurley Pro at Trestles in flawless six-foot (2 metre) waves over lethal Australian Bede Durbidge (AUS), 27.
Event No. 6 of 10 on the 2010 ASP World Tour, the Hurley Pro at Trestles culminated in stunning fashion today with the iconic Floridian collecting an unprecedented 43rd elite tour victory.
Heitor Alves claims the Lusiaves Figueira Pro

Heitor Alves (BRA) 27, was unstoppable en route to claim the Lusiaves Figueira Pro taking out Yadin Nicol (AUS) 24, in the 35-minute final which he dominated from start to finish. Claiming his second consecutive win in less than a fortnight Alves who was ranked 22 leading into this event solidifies his position as the highest ranked non World Tour athlete on the ASP World Rankings.
Event officials decided to set up a mobile site south of the main event at Praia do Cabedelo to take advantage of the remaining swell on offer. Once it was clear that conditions would be worse tomorrow the green light was given to run through to the final. Early morning heats were held in clean glassy conditions followed by the strong afternoon sea breeze which made conditions tough for the finals.

Clean four-to-six foot (2 metre) waves pumped through the lineup at Lower Trestles today with the greatest assemblage of surfing talent in history unloading a barrage of high-fi performances as the Hurley Pro at Trestles completed Rounds 3 and 4.
Event No. 6 of 10 on 2010 ASP World Tour, the Hurley Pro at Trestles is the first event in history to activate the new 36-man competitive format, including the non-elimination three-man Round 4, and today’s experience proved a resounding success.
Big waves hit Tasmania and Sydney

Sydney surfers are expecting huge waves to hit the shore during the weekend, as a low pressure system passes by Australia.
The four-metersoutherly swell will hit the coast and everyone is expecting six to eight foot waves in the coastal city.
Beginners should not paddle in, as they might get caught in the building sets.
Meanwhile, Tasmania is recording 10-to-18-metre waves, in one of the biggest weeks ever.

Swell in the four-to-six foot (2 metre) range is pouring into Lower Tresltes this morning, prompting event officials at the Hurley Pro at Trestles to call Round 3 of competition on at 8am.
Stop No. 6 of 10 on the ASP World Tour, the Hurley Pro at Trestles has completed the opening two rounds of competition and today will see the continuation of the new ASP Dream Tour format.

The countdown to the culmination of the Auto-Sleepers British Bodyboard Tour is well underway, with the final event on the 4 competition tour (the British Nationals) looming large on the horizon.
The Auto-Sleepers Nationals are scheduled for the 2-3 October at Porthtowan and feature the usual wealth of divisional competitions, with opportunities to compete from under 14 right through to the over 35s.
Night bodyboarding ignites Espinho

Portuguese bodyboarders are going to hit the waters and the waves at night, in Praia da Baia, Espinho, Portugal.
The “Stars of the Waves” will be held at 00h30m, on 19th September, in one of the busiest days of the city of Espinho. Sunday will be a special religious date for all locals. The patroness – “Nossa Senhora da Ajuda” - will certainly bless the ocean for this amazing contest.
Just right after the fireworks, the bodyboarders will kick off the tow-in and tow-out event.
Solid surfing at the Lusiaves Figueira Pro

The ASP 6-Star Lusiaves Figueira Pro went mobile again in search of the best possible conditions to run today’s session of competition. Setting up camp some 500 metres south of the main event site peaks in the 3-4ft range pulsed for some great displays of surfing.
Event officials had a tough decision on their hands when they were greeted with a very clean, straight swell that was basically a close-out from end-to-end. After checking other locations both north and south it was decided to make the most of the high tide period down the beach to run the eight heats of Round Four.

A building swell in the three-to-four foot (1.5 metre) range is pulsing through Lower Trestles this morning, prompting event organizers to call the Hurley Pro at Trestles on at 9am.
Stop No. 6 of 10 on the 2010 ASP Dream Tour, the Hurley Pro at Trestles is the first event to host the newly-formed ASP Top 34 and also plays an integral role in this year’s heated ASP World Title race.
Flynnstone Flip wins the 2010 Kustom Airstrike

When it all boils down, the objective is pure and simple – the Kustom Airstrike is about discovering something new; producing surfing so inspired and revolutionary that it breaks all the rules, forever changing the face of surfing as we know it.
This year’s Airstrike event has driven surfing to its creative extremes and divided the judges down the middle.
“It was no unanimous decision this year, that’s for sure” said Harry Truscott, Kustom’s General Manager and one this year’s judges.
Surfing beats depression in Cornwall

Surfing is a new way of to fight depression in Cornwall. The UK authorities, through the National Health System, are putting up a pilot project to help people with mental health needs.
Surfing is seen by doctors as an excellent sport to regain confidence, self-esteem and restore social interaction.
The patients undergoing the surfing therapy are aged between 12 a 25.
Since 2009, there is also a scheme targeted to armed forces personnel suffering from post traumatic stress disorder.

Stuart Campbell reconquers the Jesus Surf Classic

The 18th running of the ‘Jesus Surf Classic’, was held over the weekend of 11th and 12th September in some great early autumn sunshine with onshore but fun waves. Croyde bay once again was the venue for this long running and very successful event organised by Christian Surfers UK. Despite there being three others key surf events taking place this weekend, the organisers of the ‘Jesus’ were really pleased with over 100 competitors.
The ‘Jesus’ Surf Series due to its increasing popularity was split again this year between the traditional event at Croyde, and the Jesus Longboard Classic to be held at Polzeath over the weekend of October 16th and 17thth. For the first time this year, a new Groms division ( U12 ) was launched, to encourage the development of this key age range.
